What A.SE.D delivers
Nine objectives sit in the A.SE.D constitution. They are listed here in full, grouped into the four areas the work actually falls into.
Core mission
The core mission of A.SE.D is to promote the socio-economic development of grassroots communities by building the capacity of non-governmental organisations in the study, development and management of small income-generating projects.
Area 1 of 4
Livelihoods and Poverty Reduction
Helping households build an income that lasts after a programme closes, and training people to design and run the projects that produce it.
Objectives
Objective A. To participate in and support programmes for the fight against poverty.
Objective B. To create and initiate income-generating activities that help the organisation meet its objectives.
Objective F. To train people to design income-generating projects in rural development, and to manage those projects, so they can work their way out of poverty.
Area 2 of 4
Local Government and Institutional Capacity
Making decentralised entities and partner organisations more operational, so delivery continues without us.
Objectives
Objective C. To support community development and reinforce the capacity of decentralised local entities, so that they become more operational.
Objective I. To maintain partnerships with national and international institutions pursuing similar objectives.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
The area with the longest record: national sanitation campaigns, rainwater harvesting, and facilities built and used in three provinces.

Objective G. To sensitise rural populations, schools, prisons and churches on how to manage rainwater and build tanks to collect it.
Objective H. To sensitise rural populations, schools, prisons and churches on how to manage toilets properly, and on body hygiene and cleanliness at home and at work.

Public Health and Environment
Prevention work carried out face to face, on the health and safety risks communities raise most often.
Objectives
Objective D. To sensitise the population on protecting the environment and on road safety.
Objective E. To sensitise and train the population on preventing HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases.
